1. The Rebirth of 1990s Basketball Streetwear
Founded in New Haven, Connecticut in 1971, STARTER pioneered the authentic licensed sports apparel and sneaker boom of the 1980s and 1990s. With its signature embroidered S-and-star logo, STARTER footwear embodies bold retro basketball silhouettes, thick padded ankle collars, and high-contrast color blocking.
WIDEWAY GROUP partnered with STARTER's global footwear licensees to engineer a comprehensive collection of retro basketball mid-tops and chunky skate trainers engineered for high-volume North American and European retail distribution.
2. Multi-Color Rubber Mold Tooling & High-Frequency 3D TPU Badging
The defining aesthetic of STARTER sneakers is bold multi-tone color separation across the rubber cupsole and upper overlays:
• Precision Rubber Injection Dams: WIDEWAY's Chendai mold tooling engineers produced multi-cavity steel outsole molds with precision vulcanizing dams. This prevents color bleeding between contrasting rubber sections (e.g., optic white, classic navy, and crimson red).
• High-Frequency 3D Embossed Badges: The iconic STARTER star emblem on the heel counter is welded using high-frequency dielectric radio waves, bonding TPU film directly into the leather substrate without stitch perforations.
• Anti-Torsion TPU Arch Shank: A rigid molded thermoplastic polyurethane bridge embedded between the midsole and outsole provides torsional rigidity during quick pivoting movements.
3. Quality Assurance & Container Delivery
To date, WIDEWAY has produced over 150,000 pairs of STARTER lifestyle court sneakers with zero critical defects under ISO 2859-1 carton inspections. 100% of shoes clear our conveyor needle detector tunnels before palletized container stuffing for direct shipment to Long Beach and New York ports.
